Zoltán Ivics new member of the Academia Europaea

In September 2018, PD (external professor) Dr Zoltán Ivics, Head of Division Medical Biotechnology of the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI), Federal Institute of Vaccines and Biomedicines, was elected by the Academia Europaea as new member. This independent scientific society currently has 277 member scientists in the area of biochemistry and molecular biology including 16 Nobel Prize winners.

"This decision by the academy again proves that the research at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut is at a high level and is internationally recognised," says Professor Klaus Cichutek, president of PEI. "We congratulate Mr Ivics for this recognition."

The Academia Europaea – The Academy of Europe – with office at London is an independent scientific network which, with the aid of its pool of experts, promotes teaching and research and supports governments and international organisations with its advice. The academy selects members on the basis of their proven academic excellence. Ivics, who has been performing research at PEI since 2011, will provide this exclusive pool of members with his knowhow in the fields of gene therapy and gene transfer for life.
