Combating antibiotic resistance

CARB-X (Combating Antibiotic Resistant Biopharmaceutical Accelerator) is an international organisation that furthers antibiotics research. The German Center for Infection Research (Deutsches Zentrum für Infektionsforschung, DZIF) in which the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut participates has now become a member of the so-called accelerator network.

Multi-resistant bacteria are spreading at an ever increasing pace. CARB-X promotes projects world-wide designed to develop antibiotics, vaccines, and diagnostic products to combat antibiotic resistant pathogens. The German Center for Infection Research has now become a member of the accelerator network and will provide support and advice to project teams. The CARB-X membership of the DZIF is promoted by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF).
