The International Plasma Fractionation Association (IPFA) and the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) are pleased that the jointly organised "29th International Workshop on Surveillance and Screening of Blood-borne Pathogens" can take place this year on 10-11 May 2023 in Bologna (Italy) as an attendance event.
As in previous workshops, participants will address the detection, inactivation and epidemiology of new and known pathogens that can affect the safety of blood transfusions as well as medicines derived from plasma.
The scientific programme will focus on topics of particular interest to blood establishments, manufacturers of plasma products or diagnostics and corresponding researchers.
Topics include:
- Insect-borne viruses, in particular West Nile Virus and Dengue Virus.
- Testing for malaria pathogens
- HCV: retrospect and outlook
- Status of pathogen reduction
- Concepts for virus safety
- "Big Data" in the context of blood transfusion
- New developments (manufacturer session)
